What's new in 0.2.0-beta

Engineering conversion joins the SignalBench workflow

This release adds an Engineering Converter for common industrial pressure units and expands SignalBench's instrumentation scaling tools.

UNIT

Pressure conversion

Convert Pa, kPa, MPa, bar, mbar, psi, atm, kgf/cm², inHg, mmHg, Torr, inH₂O, and mmH₂O.

4–20

Instrumentation scaling

Work with 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, and 0–5 V signals, percent-of-span, and generalized linear engineering-range calculations.

OFF

Still offline

SignalBench remains a local desktop engineering tool with no account, telemetry, advertising, or cloud dependency.

Purpose-built

Industrial utility without unnecessary complexity

SignalBench is designed around the work technicians and engineers perform at a machine, workbench, control panel, or commissioning site.

UNIT

Engineering Converter

Convert common industrial pressure units quickly while retaining appropriate numerical precision for engineering work.

4–20

Signal and range scaling

Convert 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, and 0–5 V signals to percent or arbitrary engineering ranges without hiding underrange and overrange values.

LOC

Local and private

The application runs offline. It requires no account, contains no advertising, and does not transmit calculation or equipment information.

Installation

Run the Linux AppImage

SignalBench uses a Type 2 AppImage. Some Ubuntu systems require the FUSE 2 compatibility library before the AppImage can launch.

Ubuntu 22.04 / 23.10

Install libfuse2

sudo apt update sudo apt install libfuse2

Ubuntu 24.04 and newer

Install libfuse2t64

sudo apt update sudo apt install libfuse2t64

Check your Ubuntu release

Confirm the installed version

cat /etc/os-release | grep -E 'PRETTY_NAME|VERSION_ID'

Download the AppImage

Save NorthRivet-SignalBench-0.2.0-beta-x86_64.AppImage to your Downloads folder.

Make the file executable

chmod +x NorthRivet-SignalBench-0.2.0-beta-x86_64.AppImage

Launch SignalBench

./NorthRivet-SignalBench-0.2.0-beta-x86_64.AppImage
No FUSE installation available? A compatible Type 2 AppImage can also be tried with:
./NorthRivet-SignalBench-0.2.0-beta-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-extract-and-run
Desktop launch: Most Linux file managers also provide an “Allow executing file as program” or equivalent permission in file properties.

File integrity

Verify the downloaded application

NorthRivet publishes a SHA-256 checksum so the downloaded file can be compared with the original release artifact.

sha256sum -c NorthRivet-SignalBench-0.2.0-beta-x86_64.AppImage.sha256

Expected SHA-256:

Privacy and trust

Your calculations remain on your computer.

SignalBench is designed for offline industrial use. It does not require a user account, send telemetry, display advertising, or upload calculation history.

No account

Download and run the application without registration or login.

No telemetry

Application-controlled calculation and equipment data are not transmitted.

Local history

Saved calculations remain in the user’s standard local application-data directory.
